• Write and illustrate a short story together
  • Make a fort – use blankets, chairs, tables, pillows, tarps, whatever you can find. Find a book or activity to do inside!
  • Do a science project together with household items
  • Explore a new sport (badminton, swimming, soccer, rollerblading, hockey, baseball, tennis, etc.)
  • Decorate your own t-shirts with fabric markers and coloured glue
  • Plant a vegetable or herb garden
  • Learn to count to 10 in a foreign language
  • Build and paint a birdhouse
  • Learn a new craft together like knitting or make a mosaic
  • Attend a local farmer’s market
  • Make a calendar of the big events of the year
  • Learn a musical instrument together
  • Watch a good movie and eat popcorn
  • Visit somewhere you have never been before
  • Maintain a scrapbook of all the things you do together, include ticket stubs, menus, pictures, brochures, programs, and other mementos
  • Make foods from around the world and learn how people live in that country
  • Browse local thrift stores of yard sales for hidden treasures
  • Go swimming or play with the water hose or sprinkler in the backyard
  • Start a hobby together (astronomy, clowning, sewing, music, singing, drama, dance, stained glass, painting or poetry)
  • Have a “makeover” day and do each other’s hair, nails and makeup

  • Pick a new recipe, then go shopping and prepare the food together. You can even make a cookbook of your favourite recipes
